This 6-bottle pack of Harissa, Plankton and Oak Smoke oils is part of its recent collection "21st Century Oils", which combines the flavours of "Arbequina & the Desert", "Arbequina & the Sea" and "Arbequina and the Mediterranean Forest".
These 6 bottles, divided into two of each of the aforementioned innovations of the Jaen brand, are a masterpiece framed in a packaging of beautiful shapes and colours.
In the case of the combination of arbequina oil with plankton, we find ourselves before a bottle of beautiful green colour that reminds us of the marine depths of our Andalusian coast. The oil infused with phytoplankton has an intense aroma that reminds us of the beaches of our childhood, together with a fresh but medium-bitter entry with a fruity green olive juice.
A masterful combination of arbequina oil and harissa sauce, a typical spice of North African Mediterranean cuisine. This mixture creates unique sensations and fragrances with a herbaceous fruitiness and notes that remind us of the characteristic culinary culture of the Maghreb region, in the extreme northwest of Africa. The oil has toasted and pungent aromas of the cayenne pepper, followed by the other spices, with the aftertaste of garlic, coriander and caraway.
This third oil in our pack has a beautiful presentation in turquoise blue with a 250 ml screen-printed bottle. It is the first and only oil that is created by cold infusion through strict quality controls. The master smokers of Castillo de Canena have put their expertise at the service of this jewel of Mediterranean gastronomy, using only organic woods with a predominance of oak. Its flavour is reminiscent of apple and almond with a caramelised vanilla and toffee aftertaste. We can combine this oil with meat and fish because of its rich smoky touch, as well as with salads or to create sauces.
Castillo de Canena is a unique family business, involved in the whole process of creating the extra virgins: from the tree to its commercialization. The farm is located in the province of Jaén. It works under the API certification, an environmentally friendly way of agriculture, halfway between traditional and organic farming. The farm passes monthly audits that certify compliance with all standards. Currently, most of the farm is being reconverted to organic farming.
The most important national and international awards, including the Spanish Food Award from the Ministry of Agriculture in 2016 for the Picual variety, Sol D'Oro 2016 awards for Biodynamics, Flos Olei 2016 for the best olive growing company, awarded in Jaen Selection every year, second prize in Mario Solinas from the COI, first prize in Biol 2016, magazines such as Biopress or Feinschmecker in Germany, awards from China and Japan, etc.
Each year it compiles a multitude of these awards that guarantee its dedication and effort to the quality of the oils it produces.
All the oils produced are kept in stainless steel tanks for perfect conservation. Once bottled, they are kept away from light and heat sources.
